Grandads Van!
My Dad (Roger) has owned this Berlingo van since new. It may be old, it may be tatty but this workhorse has been with my dad for over 15 years and its REALLY needed some love. It wasnt just me who thought so - my children thought so too!
Easter Weekend, armed with my CHEAPEST cleaning products, yes cheapest - Me and the kids went to town on the old girl.
Heres some before snaps of this poor thing. Covered in bumped, scratches and even moss growing in some places.
I dont think this vehicle has ever had any form of paint correction or body treatment. Let alone any protection.
We were going to have to go from the ground up and cover almost every aspect of car care to get this van looking even half decent!
As you can see - the old Berlingo needed some love!
The wheels and tyres were hit first… TWICE. There wasn’t much saving the wheels from the rust damage but we done our best to improve the general look of the wheels, tyres and wheel arches.
Next the bodywork, bumpers and trims got treated to a Citrus pre-Wash which removes road grime, oils and other contamination. We followed that up with a complete snow foam of the entire vehicle to attempt to loosen and pull off as much dirt and debris as possible.
Once this was rinsed down, we got our hands on the car with a full shampoo contact wash.
Once this was done, we could really assess the condition of the paintwork. Sure, the deeper scratches and bumps couldn’t be fixed, but we felt a single stage polish might just bring this van back to some form of respectability.
After running a clay bar over the body and glass to remove further contamination. We polished the entire vehicle, followed up with a special spray sealant (Similar to a ‘Ceramic’ coating but not as hard wearing), treated the tyres and bumpers to a silicone dressing and the van was done!
Grandad was well chuffed!
